"The Phantom
of Aurora" came to life more than five years ago.
It was originally published on another site and when
it was finished I thought to have it published. I rewrote
the book, submitted it to a publisher and in the course
of time I heard from them. The original draft manuscript
was lost! The disc I had this on was corrupted and,
with the help of a superb editor, I rewrote the book
all over again! I published the new work on a web site,
which many of you know. What you see below is the final
manuscript, as published both on another site, and as
a paperback, two-volume novel (available through Amazon).
"The Phantom"
is the first of a series of books depicting the lives
of Canadian Sea Cadets. It is set in 1976 and I caution
all readers to understand that while I do, from time
to time, indulge in fantasies, I pay attention to the
mores, cultural beliefs and the demographics of the
times. From time to time I have received flaming e-mails
from special interest groups, and misinformed individuals,
taking me to task for a cultural fact, and equating
the customs and mores of today with forty years ago.
My reply is, "Suck it up, Buttercup!" I can't
change the past, even in my wildest imaginations.
I am not all that
political so there are no rants. I admit to a very real
bias to Lib-Left Liberals, and the socialist, cradle
to the grave mentality, we know what is best for you,
type of politician. In my somewhat biased opinion, the
only good Liberal is a dead one.
To all who read
what follows I offer no excuses. I enjoyed writing it,
I visit the work from time to time and I hope that those
of you who do read it will agree with me.
The story is based
on a rumour I once heard. I cannot confirm or deny that
there actually was a "Phantom Wanker". If
there is, I hope he enjoyed himself!
To any new readers,
I enjoy hearing from all my readers and appreciate constructive
criticism. If you wish to comment, please contact me
at my e-mail address: paradegi@rogers.com. I do reply,
except to flames.
Yours aye to all,
-John Ellison
